In-Clinic Diagnostic Laboratory

Will Rogers once said “[t]he best doctor in the world is a veterinarian. He can’t ask his patients what is the matter-he’s just got to know.” While there is still much truth to this statement, the doctors at Hazel Green have diagnostic blood testing that can indicate what your pet cannot-what may be the source of their problem. Our clinic has state-of-the-art blood chemistry, complete blood count (CBC) and electrolyte analyzers at our practice that can quickly and accurately give valuable information about your pet to Drs. Hertha and Sindel.

Our blood chemistry instrument measures liver, kidney and pancreatic function, enabling our doctors to know if a pet may be facing organ failure and if their body is capable of undergoing anesthesia. Our CBC unit assesses the number of red and white blood cells, as well as platelets, present in the blood of a pet. Finally, our electrolyte unit helps our doctors determine the hydration levels of pets, helping them determine if a pet is dehydrated or if fluids may be necessary.

Blood testing at Hazel Green takes only minutes, meaning our experienced doctors can begin treatment right away if necessary. Our doctors also recommend blood testing prior to any surgical event to insure a pet does not have an underlying condition which may require treatment prior to surgery. Our clients have come to expect quality care at Hazel Green, and our doctors will bring this same level of compassion and care to your pet.
